The Stars and Steaks Star Party - 2002

On October 11 Members of London Centre hosted Members of the Elgin Stewardship Council, their families, and interested neighbours for a BBQ and observing session to express our appreciation for being permitted to observe at the Fingal Wildlife Management Area. We began setting up about 17:30h and hot hamburgers and hot dogs were ready by 18:15. Cliff Johnston and Dave Rubenhagen flipped and turned, keeping ahead of the demand. Dave McCarter brought a bean salad, Peter and Dianne Jedicke baked cookies, Steve Gauther and Valerie Rauche brought fabulous coleslaw and home made cookies, Ingred Hutchinson fed people steak, and everyone had more than enough to eat.

The clouds were thick and frustrating, but grudingly allowed some observing of the moon and a few bright stars. We hope our new friends will return often when the skies are better to enjoy the wonders of the night sky.

Dave Rubenhagen prods a vegiburger while Cliff Johnston monitors another batch of burgers.
Dave McCarter compares his hitchhicking wave with one of the Fingal Neighbours as his wife looks on
Harold Tutt makes a point to Ian Carmichael, his wife, and a neighbour.
Mike Costa prepares to devour a hotdog while Peter Jedicke enthusiastically consumes a massive hamburger and Dianne watches the chaos at the banquet table. We have never been able to find a photo of Peter where he is not enjoying gastronomy.
