I was on a year-long research leave from 1 July 2015 till 30 June 2016. In Fall 2016, I am a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. Until recently, I was Department Chair of a large unit with 30 faculty members, about 20 department and research staff, and about 85 graduate students. I enjoyed the opportunity to stake out a plan and move toward important institutional goals. The last several years in the Department have seen a significant expansion of both personnel and facilities; it's an exciting time to be here! As a researcher, an important part of my job is to travel to other institutions and to conferences in order to present my work and share ideas. I've given invited talks at many international conferences, organized some conferences of my own, and my group work has been featured in media releases. Information on some of these are found in the menu bar for Activities.
